Product care

I make my products to stand the test of time. This wash bag is crafted from a durable, natural leather which will only look better with age.

However, you can give your wash bag some extra TLC by:

  • Wiping any dirt from the surface of the leather with a damp cloth.
  • Buffing out small scruffs or scratches from wear using a cotton cloth. This brings the natural oils to the surface of the leather.
  • Feeding the leather with Original Sedgwick Leathercare to protect and replenish the natural oils in the hide. Please note that this product will slightly darken the colour of the leather permanently.

Made to order

Each leather washbag is handmade to order in my workshop, using traditional techniques. It takes up to three weeks to craft a washbag, from the point of order to shipping.

More information

The Heritage Washbag is made with the same approach as my larger bags - functional, hard-wearing, and built to last. Produced in limited numbers, each one is cut from Moorland leather by Pittards in Yeovil, Somerset - a traditional styled leather that looks good in town or country.

The handle and base are Sedgwick bridle leather, finished with solid brass hardware and fully bound seams. The base takes inspiration from our falconry lures - a quiet nod to my roots in leatherwork.

Inside, there are no unnecessary dividers. One roomy compartment and accessory tabs with eyelets keep things secure and practical.

Hand crafted in my Lincolnshire workshop, it’s a piece of kit designed to work - whether you’re carrying toiletries, tools, or cartridges in the field.

Created from Britain’s best materials

I source leather from tanneries I know, trust and have long working relationships with.

The hardware is solid brass and from one of the country’s last remaining traditional brass foundries, which dates back to 1832.

Every material is chosen for toughness and longevity - so the bag only improves with age and use.

Designed for the real world

With each and every Ashley Clarke piece, heritage-style meets heavy duty. I design my leather goods to last and to improve with age.

I select sturdy leathers that hold their own and favour hides that take on more character in time. The leather I handpicked for this wash bag strikes that ideal balance.

Growing up in the Lincolnshire countryside, flying hawks with my dad, has influenced my material choices and product designs. I prefer natural leathers that look better for a few scuffs and scratches, and solid brass details that are durable and rust-proof.

I encourage you to embrace the signs of everyday use that your wash bag will accumulate in time. I’ve designed this bag to tell your story for years to come and one day, I hope you’ll pass it down to the next generation of your family, who will treasure your well-loved travel companion.

Made in England

Each washbag is made from start to finish in my workshop in Grantham, England. Patterns are created here from my design sketches and then extensively tested in house.

I physically mock up each new design in leather, there’s no use of CAD in this process, everything is done by hand, like the good old days.

My cutting knives are then made bespoke for each product that I produce.

Every washbag is made right here and finished by us, whether that’s hand dying an edging detail or constructing a zip fastening.
