How to measure your belt
For the best fit, measure from the fold at the buckle to the hole you use most on a belt that already fits you well. That number is the belt measurement we work from.
If you are between sizes, or just want an exact size, choose the made-to-measure option.
- Measure from the buckle fold to your most-used hole.
- Use that number when choosing your belt.
- Between sizes or unsure? Choose made to measure.
- Watch our measuring guide below.
Still unsure on sizing? The made-to-measure belt is the safest option.
Why bridle leather?
We use bridle leather because it has the right qualities for a good belt. It was originally developed for the equine industry, where strength and reliability matter. It holds its shape well, wears in well over time, and has the kind of finish that works for a belt like this. These belts are cut from J. & E. Sedgwick bridle leather and made here in our Lincolnshire workshop.
Belt FAQs
What is the difference between the two belts?
The Bridle Leather Belt is offered in fixed sizes in Black or Australian Nut with a solid brass buckle. The Made-to-Measure Bridle Leather Belt is made to your supplied measurement and comes with a wider choice of colours and buckle finishes.
How do I measure for the right size?
Measure from the fold at the buckle to the hole you use most on a belt that already fits you well. That is the measurement we work from. If you are unsure, the made-to-measure option is the safest choice.
What leather do you use?
We use bridle leather from J. & E. Sedgwick. It has the weight, finish, and firmness that suit a belt well, and it wears in properly over time.
Will the belt soften with wear?
Yes. Bridle leather has some firmness to begin with, but it will wear in with use while still keeping its character and structure.
